Use in pediatric patients
It has been suggested that substitution of gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT) for alkaline phosphatase in the scoring system may be more useful in the evaluation of children because of the contribution of bone activity to serum alkaline phosphatase levels. See Ebbeson & Schreiber, Diagnosing autoimmune hepatitis in children: is the International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group scoring system useful? Clin Gastroenterol Hepatol 2004;2:935-940. [PubMed link]
